Bright sparks

We figured out how to make the bulb light up. We connected the wires from the battery to the bulb and it lit up. We found out that electricity travels in a circle.

From seed to tree

We are learning all about LifeCycles.

Today we read a book called "Acorn to Oak Tree".

We went outside to see and compare the buds from the Horse Chestnut tree with the buds from the Ash tree.

We noticed that Horse Chestnut buds are big, brown and very sticky, where as the buds from the Ash tree are small, black and very pointy.

Spring is here

 Look at the lovely snowdrops, narcissi and crocuses growing beside our front door.

 Seeing the new flowers remind us that Spring is really here!

Making pancakes

Today is Pancake Tuesday. We made pancakes in our class. We put flour in a bowl, then we added in two eggs. Then we poured in some milk and we whisked them together until it was smooth and there were no lumps. Then we used a ladle and poured the mixture onto the pancake maker. Then Ms.Crotty flipped it and when it was ready we ate it. We put sugar, lemon and golden syrup on. They were yummy!!!!

Making jelly

We made jelly this week. It was such fun. We watched the jelly melt and dissolve into the water and then we put it in the fridge. We checked it the next day and it had set. It's is fascinating how materials can change.

Spring nature walk

This week, our class went on a nature walk around the school to see what signs of spring we could find! 

We looked closely and we could spy some buds on the trees...the leaves are nearly ready to appear!

We also spotted this bird's nest in the trees and we wondered if there are any eggs in it!

A sure sign that spring is here - look at the lovely daffodils!!!

Snakes

We made little snake books for Chinese New Year on Sunday.

Frogs

Today we learned about the life cycle of the frog. We learned a frogy song and drew some frogy pictures!

We learned frogs are amphibians.
