Today we carried out an experiment with raisins and 7up. We placed the raisins in water and they sunk right to the bottom of the plastic cup. We then put the raisins into 7up and the raisins started to dance and bounce up and down in the glass. We learnt that 7up is full of gas, that's what makes it fizzy. The gas bubbles are full of carbon dioxide and that's what causes it to jump up and down. We put on some music for the rasins so they could dance. It was great fun.

Being Seen. Junior Infants
Thanks to the ESB and RSA for our lovely new high Visibility vests. We look bright and beautiful.
Taken from RTE news August 2010:
"Every child starting school next week is to be given a high-visibility vest as part of a new road safety campaign. Some 80,000 vests are being distributed to all new junior infants.
The Road Safety Authority has asked parents, guardians and teachers to make road safety a priority as the new school year approaches. AdvertisementThe initiative is being sponsored by the ESB.
RSA CEO Noel Brett said: 'Every year, we remind parents and guardians to make sure that road safety is a priority on their child's back-to-school checklist and this year is no different. Children are the most vulnerable of our road-users, so it is really important that they are streetwise about road safety.

Nature's finest: Cobwebs
It is close to Hallowe'en and we are talking about witches, bonfires, black cats and spiders.
The drops of mist collected on the webs, and were glistening. Spiders' webs are so pretty, but they are extremely strong too, and are in fact traps, for catching a spider's favourite food - flies and other small insects. Yum, Yum!!!!
Be safe, be seen, Junior Infants
Today we were talking about Lucy from Sunny Streets. She was riding her bicycle. We were talking about the different ways she could keep safe while riding her bike. One of the ways we said she could keep safe was to wear a bright reflective jacket so she could be seen. We got a great surprise as we all recieved a free bright reflective jacket each. We put them on when we were going home. Teacher said we should try and wear them on our way to school and on the way home. The motto is " BE SAFE BE SEEN". If we wear these jackets while we are out walking or cycling. Drivers will see us and will slow down.
Raindrops, Junior Infants
This week we were talking about weather. It was really wet this week. One morning we looked out the window and all we could see were really heavy showers. When the rain stopped the yard was full of puddles. We dressed up for a rainy day. We had a raincoat, a hood, welly boots and an umbrella. We learnt a poem about the rain drops.
Dripsy, dropsy,
Pitter, patter,
Falling to the ground.
Faster then slow,
Until it stops.
Oh what a welcome sound.
We painted umbrella's in art. We added a puddle by gluing on some tinfoil. We used our fingers to print the rain drops. Finally we used glitter and glue to make the clouds.
