After that we talked about staying safe with electricity (plugs, kites, wires etc.).

St. Brigit's Garden
2 classes of Junior Infants (Mrs. Keenan and Ms. Tierney), 3 classes of Senior Infants (Ms. McLoughlin, Ms. Ferguson and Ms. Flaherty), the special class and one Language Class went on tour to St. Brigid's garden on Thursday, October 18th 2007 and Friday, October 19th.
This report is from Ms. McLoughlin's class: We had a fantastic day. We went there by bus and we were very careful to wear all our seatbelts. When we got to the garden we were taken around by a very nice lady named Louise. She took us on a walk through the woods and then we did some bughunting with minibeasts. We were minibeast detectives. We listened to bird songs. A robin came to sit on the tree beside us and sing to us. We looked for nuts, mushrooms and berries. We collected nuts, seeds and berries. We even used instruments and went for a little parade. We learned so much about leaves, berries and seeds. It was great fun.

Strange Sounds
October 3rd, 2007
In Room 5 we had a lot of fun trying out sounds with Room 4.
We used tins, cling film and rice or sand to see sound. When we bang tins together the rice and the sand on the cling film jump.
We could feel sound when we whispered or talked into a balloon. What a funny feeling!
We made weird sounds with balloons, grass and straws.

We made a guitar from an ice cream container and different sized elastic bands. The smaller the elastic band the higher the note and the bigger the elastic band the lower the note.
