We went on our first mini beast hunt of the year. We were looking to see which bugs and insects like to hide under the logs in Autumn. We had lots of bug viewers with magnifying glass, tweezers for gently lifting the insects and bugs, and some bug keys to help us identify what we found. The log pile is at the back of the senior school and there is a lovely mini-beast mural on the wall beside the logs. We found lots and lots of wood lice, worms, slugs, snails, a fly, little green flying insects and even some very yellow mushrooms growing on the side of one of the logs. We tried to be very gentle with the bugs, and we carefully put them all back when we were finished looking at them. We tried not to disturb them too much.
